Aesthetic Movement Wardrobe & Cupboard
Aesthetic Movement furniture is not easily found.
This is a wardrobe and bedside cupboard, decorated in the panels with floral designs.
There is a makers label - James Shoolbred of Tottenham Court Road, London. They were principal makers at this time of about 1890.
Inside, on the right there is hanging space and a box for shoes, on the left there are drawers and sliding shelves. The shelves could be taken out and stored and the space used for hanging shirts and suits.
The wardrobe is 71 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 81½ inches high.
The bedside cupboard is 16 inches wide, 14½ inches deep and 30½ inches high.
