Antique Anglo-Indian Colonial Padouk Table
A spectacular Anglo-Indian table that features all the decorative exotic elements one would hope to find in a piece of furniture from this area and period.
There are carved lions to the feet, intertwined serpents to the stem, sitting birds to the base of the column, and monkeys, storks, leopards and Asiatic pheasants carved into the top. The apron frieze is carved and pierced with foliate decoration.
Constructed in padouk a species of teak, in the days of the British Raj in about 1875.
A good rich colour and in very good original condition.
This particular piece of furniture has been in our family for several generations.
Delivery can be arranged to any part of the country. As a guide, delivery to London and most parts of England would be £80. We use an experienced carrier that is well used to moving antique furniture with the appropriate care. Collection is, of course, welcome.
