Antique Scandinavian Mahogany Tall Chest of Drawers
This tall chest of drawers or tallboy was made in about 1880. It was constructed in Scandinavia - Sweden or Denmark using decorative figured mahogany.
It is the best example that I have come across of its type, for proportion and quality. The veneers are carefully book matched to give a very striking appearance, the drawers are mainly oak lined (which is unusual for this area of furniture), and the brass escutcheons are restrained and inset.
A very understated and confident piece of furniture.
Very practical with plenty of storage, and because of its clean lines and uncluttered look, this is a 19th century piece of furniture that would fit well in a contemporary setting.
The chest sits on carved lion’s paw feet at the front and block feet at the back, this is quite typical for Northern European furniture.
The piece is in very good condition. Supplied with two keys.
Delivery can be arranged to any part of the country. As a guide, delivery to London and most parts of England would be £85. We use an experienced carrier that is well used to moving antique furniture with the appropriate care. Collection is, of course, welcome.
