Dining Table by Dyrlund of Denmark, Lotus/Flip-Flap
This elegant and stylish dining table was designed and made in Denmark in the 1960s by Dyrlund. Constructed using matching teak timbers.
It is sometimes called the lotus or flip-flap table.
It is the most interesting dining table I've had to sell.
It is the top that is so unusual, ingenious and very practical. The table sits four people comfortably, but when you have a few friends around you can then pull out the hidden leaves from just under the surface. They then flap out to form an outer ring that sits up to eight people. (You don't need to take the top off to pull the leaves out).
The legs are square and gradually taper.
The hinges are brass and exposed. Always an attractive feature - brass and teak.
It is in very good condition - of course, the centre has faded more than the outer ring because its had more exposure to the light, but I think it's more attractive because of that. (The outer ring is a good even colour, there is some sun glare in the photo).
The table can be stored or transported flat. The top lifts off via its locating rods, the leaves lift out, and the legs can unbolt.
Delivery can be arranged to any part of the country. As a guide, delivery to London and most parts of England would be £85. We use an experienced carrier that is well used to moving antique furniture with the appropriate care. Collection is, of course, welcome.
