Georgian Oak Dresser, Antique and Genuine
This is a good looking, well balanced oak dresser From the 1780s.
The dresser is beautifully proportioned - it’s large but there’s nothing heavy looking about this piece of furniture.
This is a good opportunity to acquire a very pleasing piece of country furniture in a really warm colour and rich patination, in genuine condition. A piece of this size and refined lines would have been made for a country manor house rather than a cottage.
It has three drawers with brass swan neck handles along the frieze, and two cupboards with asymmetrical escutcheons as part of the rack. There’s a pretty frieze under the cornice and a very decorative skirt under the drawers. Interestingly, a couple of the drawers are lined with old printed papers.
It is very original and authentic with one drawer bottom replaced and bearers repaired, also a “c” scroll has been restored. The important point is, the rack is original to the base.
The dresser has been in our family for over 70 years, but we now don’t have a wall to place it against.
Delivery can be arranged to any part of the country. As a guide, delivery to London and most parts of England would be £95. We use an experienced carrier that is well used to moving antique furniture with the appropriate care. Collection is, of course, welcome.
