Danish Leather Wing Armchair in the Mogensen Style
This is a very stylish leather armchair in the style of the Danish architect and furniture designer, Borge Mogensen.
This is an extract from a Danish furniture design website: Functional is the word which best describes Børge Mogensen’s design. The majority of his furniture was designed with industrial production in mind and is characterized by strong and simple lines. His true genius is to be found in his almost scientific analysis of the functionality of a piece of furniture.
The chair has a high back and wings. There's no bulk to the arms or back, but the seat is generous, and with the sloping back it is very comfortable.
The colour is a mid brown: rich, warm and lived in. This is exactly how I like to buy them, this is an antique from the mid twentieth century. Classic design with natural materials and colours, this chair will fit into either a modernist or traditional setting.
The chair was designed in the 1950s but was made by Stouby of Denmark, probably in the 80s, it is in good original condition, as you will see in the photos there are a few places where the colour has rubbed back on the leather. The chair has been cleaned and waxed.
Delivery can be arranged to any part of the country. As a guide, delivery to London and most parts of England would be £75. We use an experienced carrier that is well used to moving antique furniture with the appropriate care. Collection is, of course, welcome.
